Cybersecurity Risk and the Role of HR Presented by Luke Collins, Brazos River Authority

Data from recent surveys reveal businesses only assign a small percentage of cyber responsibility to HR. In reality, HR must play a vital role in creating a robust Cybersecurity culture. Technology has enveloped nearly all aspects of daily life in our work. This technological pervasiveness has increased the role Human Resources possess in protecting employee data, administering policies and procedures, and facilitating cybersecurity training and awareness. This presentation will bring awareness to the increasing threats organizations, businesses, employees all face in today and the part we all must play in fostering a cyber secure culture.

Luke was hired at the Brazos River Authority in 2019 as Cybersecurity Manager and promoted to his current position as Information & Cyber Technology Manager in early 2022. Before joining the BRA, Luke served as a systems engineer and co-founder of Katana global Technologies in Houston, consulting and training clients in cyber security awareness and security mitigation and prevention across several sectors including, manufacturing, healthcare, real estate, and energy.  Luke received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from Baylor University and holds a CISSP certification as well several others.

Lunch will be catered by Blanek's. Menu will be Meatballs and Marinara Sauce, Chicken Milan, Penne Pasta, Roasted Chef's Cut Mixed Vegetables, Caesar Salad, Garlic Rolls, brownies and/or cookies, tea and water.
